I hope you are all enjoying the fresh start to the new school year! I have heard from Ms. Loveland that things have started off quite smoothly for our students. Waddell kids are rocking it and of course Waddell Staff too! Woo-hoo!
This upcoming week is going to be a busy one. The Thirty-One Large Utility Tote Fundraiser is coming to a close. All orders are due in Monday (September 12th). This is a fantastic way to help raise money for the PTA and get a great product! Please turn in your order forms in a timely manner. Thank you Tracy Maio for putting this together! This Thursday, September 15th is Waddell's Open House! This year there will be a BBQ instead of the hot dog dinner. Please make sure to find the PTA table. We will be giving away welcome packets, promoting the kick off for our Box Top Collection, starting our PTA Membership Drive, and launching the 3 For Me Initiative. There are so many incredible changes coming to the PTA! I am bursting with excitement! I can't wait to meet all of you at the open house and tell you some of the things that we have up our sleeves! Let's just say, you are definitely going to want to play an active role in the PTA this year! We are a friendly group with some very high aspirations. There is certainly great power in numbers. Please join us in whatever way that you can! After Thursday's Open House, please tell me how it went. Give me your feedback! Did we meet your expectations? Is the PTA moving in the right direction? Keeping an open line of communication is a necessity in order for the PTA to provide a true parent-teacher association. Thanks!

Most people realize very quickly after meeting me that I am a SUPER DISORGANIZED person. I really want to have things lined up all neatly, in alphabetical order, but that just isn't how my brain works. I usually tend to have no less than 4,000 thoughts swirling around my head at any given time. (Yes, I know there is medication for this.)
I was terrified at the idea of volunteering for the PTA, because I would seriously hate to let anyone down! I know my abilities and my many, many faults. At the same time, I felt torn because I really wanted to help out as much as I could. (I have truly grown to love Waddell like a second home over these last 8 years!) I guess now I am just at a point in my life where I realize that doing something is always going to be more powerful than doing nothing. Plus, ya know, I have a lot of time on my hands with three kids in school all day. So, this is how I became Waddell's new PTA President. I just spoke up and dove right in. I decided to add a blog to this website just for the sheer fun of it! I have always wanted to write a blog, but didn't have any subject to write about. This year will be such a crazy whirl-wind for me, that I bet it could become quite entertaining. I mean, I honestly have NO idea what I am doing! I will be the first person to admit that. I am sure that I will learn an immeasurable amount throughout this "Presidential PTA Adventure"...why not share my experiences? Who knows, maybe putting it all out there will inspire one more Waddell mom, dad, or even aunt to volunteer a bit of their time to the PTA. Waddell Elementary gives our kids so much, the school community certainly deserves all the help we can give!!! |
Erica ParentI am a stay-at-home mom to three gorgeous and crazy kids. I have been the parent of a student here at Waddell since 2008! (Niyah is my last baby here. She is currently in second grade.) I am very easy going and try not to let things bother me. If you see me around, say hello and tell me your name! (Just don't expect me to remember it...I can't even keep my kids' names straight!)
